China Cottage has stood on Lake Road since the late 1980s — a small Cantonese kitchen kept alive by the same family for more than three decades. Walkers in muddy boots, holidaymakers, and Ambleside locals all find their way to the same warm, lantern-lit room.

Our cooking is honest. The recipes come from Guangdong by way of home — wok-fired, fragrant with ginger and spring onion, generous on the plate. We don't chase trends. We cook the dishes our grandmother taught us, the way she taught us.
